September 22, 2023 - Sweet strawberry, amarena sotto spirito, cardamom, tobacco. Fullbodied, with plentiful, sweet tannins and refreshing acidity. Lots of everything, but very easy to drink, as close to a crowdpleaser as a Barolo will ever get. Drink now - 2035.

September 4, 2022 - Medium dark reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & aromatic nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, boysenberries & plums with overtones of floral notes of roses, orange rind, earthy/dusty notes, tar, herbs, minerals & a hint of balsamic & cedar notes. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums, minerals, spices, herbs, iron & a slight hint of oak in the background. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well presently with decanting & extended airing (90+ min.) & at 12 years old, it has potential for further development with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (93+).

April 22, 2021 - Nice wine, but still too young by at least five years. On Day 1, after a short decant, this was very tight, tanniny, and out of balance. The nose was big and fragrant, rose and forest floor -- I definitely did get a pretty big whiff of brett too, which I personally don't mind; palate hard to read well through the astringency of the tannins; long finish.

Significantly better on Day 2 (sitting in decanter with a non-airtight glass ball on top). Nose less fragrant, but still a nice, rose/floor perfume typical of Barolo. Palate of cherry, mushroom, plum; nice structure, with tannins still big but balanced; and still a nice long finish. A good preview of how this will be later. Drink now only if you plan ahead to have it sit out many hours first.

June 1, 2020 - wow... my bottle was great. young but great. i DEFINITELY had none of the VA that other tasters mention; nor did i see a green streak. my bottle had some of the classic notes of iron and fist bumping depth that i associate with barolos from the east part of the region. bit of balsamic on the nose; but still very very primary. no need to rush into them... but i value others experience with this wine, and it makes me curious about my remaining bottles. first one i tried of this wine. i'm sensitive to VA and hate it.

May 13, 2020 - Opened in the morning, poured 20ml and slow-ox, enjoyed in the evening. Brett and VA is quite obvious initially but gruadually blows off. Penetrating nose of game, truffle, licorice, dried flower, ripe red fruit, almost black, underlined by a green streak. Very powerful on palate with grainy tannins. On the 2nd night it's more tarry, smoother and more delicious. I think this is very typical traditional winemaking. Full of character.
