June 11, 2021 - Online Blind Tasting #9: Broadening your wine horizon: *** Note is based on 0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle and 0,1l two days after the tasting ***
Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah / Zalto Universal
Clear, deep cherry red color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Amarena cherry (but not in an alcoholic sense), some brett/barn (on day one dominant, after two days almost gone), cloves, camphor, fresh, herbaceous. Deep, dense and complex.
Dry, high acidity that gives this wine freshness and balances the well-integrated 14% abv, high, silky tannin. Medium, rather lean body. Fine red fruit, cherries, some barn/animalic notes, very mineral, herbs de provance, some green pepper. Good grip and tension. Juicy. Long, lingering and at the end a bit hot finish. Potential for another decade, but I doubt that it will improve much. 92-93
