April 17, 2024 - Tasted against the 2004 Pesquier Gigondas, this is darker, drier and certainly feels more polished. The tannins has softened, this is cool and vertical with notes of mint. Some garrigue notes on the back. Perfectly agreeable, but the 2004 Pesquier is more my style of wine.

January 20, 2020 - Lighter, more elegant compared to the 2003, again with notes of lavender, herbs and light red fruit. The tannins are still marked and there’s a few years left to maturity. Wait a few years.

October 29, 2018 - I'm surprised Cellartracker hasn't been kinder to this wine. It's a dead ringer for good Chateauneuf du Pape. It's aging quite well, showing plenty of dried figs and tobacco as well as plummy fruit and spice. Tannins remain serious. I recommend drinking now.

July 29, 2018 - I've had mixed feelings about Saint-Cosme over the years, but what I've learned is that the wines (Gigondas) age quite well. This is no exception. Compared to the 2004 Pesquier, this has more stuffing, it's probably slightly more extracted but there's also some funky/earthy notes that makes this interesting. The fruit is darker compared to the Pesquier, there's lavender notes in spades. Clearly a more polished wine, but I like it with my grilled brochette d'agneau.

January 21, 2018 - Excellent wine that is drinking perfectly now. It tastes similar to good Chateauneuf du Pape, but a little brighter and lighter (in a good way). Aromas of figs, raspberries, cigar box, and black olive. Smooth, chocolatey mouthfeel with silky tannins.

August 18, 2017 - A plesant steal off the wine list at Taipan. Inferior quality glassware but wine still performed its job well. Didn't bring my Riedel out.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour with garnet edge. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of garrigue, stony minerality, dark red cherries, sweet spices, black pepper. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), smooth integrated high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flsvours of sweet ripe red cherries, redcurrant, grilled herbs, integrated light chocolate oa, black pepper spice. Long finish.
Very good quality. Probably bursting with fruit flavour when young, this has now calmed down into a good place. Still full of life, but showing good integration. Time to drink up and enjoy.
Grenache dominant blend, with some Syrah, Mouvedre, and Cinsault.

July 3, 2015 - At peak or ever so slightly past. Firing on all cylinders after a 30 minute decant and improved with another hour. Nice secondary notes, garrigue, and rusticity. Medium bodied, lighter than what you are used to if you are used to young Gigondas. Medium length finish. Man, what a nice bottle for the price I paid a number of years ago...
