Community Tasting Notes 11

July 6, 2019 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whts, & 8 Reds] from 07/05/19 + 5 Shared Bottles (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Dan, THANK you for sharing this "find"! ;)

I'm thinking this had ≈4 hrs in a small tasting glass before I got to it. Also, this came from a collection stored questionably, MOST of the bottles being fine, but a few not.

N: Showing at least some oxygenation, but with notes of smoke & ripe berries

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a BIT of astringent pucker which QUITE loses its bite by the LONG finish with a tangy/swtness to the MINIMAL, dusty tannins. At least for this bottle (& my time frame of tasting it), the P was *way* better than the N. Drink now & through '20, poss '21? 13.9% ABV; My EXC-/EXC. 89 pts Tanzer, 88 WE, & 83 WS.

February 14, 2018 - Normally, I'm a Dickerson fan. This was very cheesy without the normal spice that is Dickerson to me. A disappointment.

July 12, 2011 - For its age still quite good. Very gentle and subdued at this point but still a good drinking wine

March 20, 2011 - After some bottle stink, definite nose of zinfandel.....tea leaves, dark fruit. All the flavours seemed a bit subdued....black currants, vanilla...not nearly as robust as expected.

February 12, 2011 - Softer subtle fruits. Medium finish. Tannins have softened out in the three years since I last tired one of these. Not bad...but not a premium zin although it was more or less a premium price (at the auction I got it at at least)
