November 9, 2019 - Indulgence.....: The aromatic profile is very different with the Rousseau 09 Chambertin but equally captivating: Airy, seductive rose petal, almost opulent sweet spices and blue fruits w savouriness and coffee. Surprisingly open-knit though still with the restraint of a young Richebourg. Delineated, fresh, flavours is expanding on the palate. The tannin is firm but very very fine. A very classy Richebourg.

Few days later. This showed even better: Sweet blue and dark berries, hoisin sauce, violets, sweet spices. Lifted, airy, and highly seductive. Brilliant acidity, so juicy and refined, with underlying power and umami on the mouth. Highly complex and satisfying on the palate, incredible length. This hold better than the Rousseau 09 Chambertin.

    June 18, 2019 - My third bottle.

I dropped one outside flatiron wines SF one day, and a hobo commented on the GORGEOUS bouquet when I got back in the car a half hour later, due to her

Fine Blue/Black Fruit & Good spice as mentioned. I do really enjoy this wine, and, at the risk of seeming more daft than usual: it always feels and pours and tastes and seems very PURPLE to me. So herein: Blue and blackberries really are just trying to get to dark grapes in a sense. Sorry. I resist saying more for mysterious personal reasons. Ok: THIS WINE CONFUSES ME. I have only had one DRC Riche, the 05, and it was bigger. With the Méo 13, I suppose, there’s a “dry extract” issue. I wanted more, And, so,
As tasty as this wine very much presents,

I feel obliged to mention that I paid too much for this vint. For good or ill, as trading out at par or better—as with the 2009 Crow— has proved challenging, I will suffer through the six packs... Ha.

(I believe many men have overpaid for bottles with RICHEBOURG written on them. Yes: It helps.)

    They run, thus far:
    93-96 pts,
based largely on variable perceived extraction.

[ok-Will make a point of a little meo camuzet tasting with other wine studs for our mut Ben later.]

February 23, 2019 - This is the third 2013 I have had in a week that has just been full on. Very primary, but great fireworks on the nose and grip on the palate. The spice and concentration here were excellent. The finish was a bit shorter than you would expect from this wine, but I expect that is a factor of the vintage.

July 3, 2018 - Decanted to serve in a 1.5 hour dinner. Nose was pungent with vr spice, flower, minerals and velvet. The palate opened up towards the second half of the dinner with purple fruit and pronounced minerality. Decent power but it was lean for a Meo Richebourg probably due to the vintage. Given the heavy handed and backward style of Meo’s wine, the wine maker style has added flair to the weak vintage. Certainly young and promising which very likely to be an early drinking and balanced Richebourg in 7-8 years. To be completely honest, there are better wines to buy at the current 1000 euro mark.

March 3, 2018 - La Paulée de SF Gala Dinner (Fairmont Hotel, SF CA): Kind of a shame to drink this one so young, especially in the same flight as the '03 and '00, you can see how unevolved and primary this '13 is in comparison. Great density and concentration but lacking the roundness and layering of the older wines. 93+ in the future.

March 3, 2018 - La Paulée de San Francisco - Gala Dinner (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Small glass, brief note. Similar fruit and spice vs 2000 and 2003, but leaner and naturally more backward. Got slightly more fleshy on finish. Certainly has upside, but somewhat lost in the evening.
