January 29, 2018 - Vinegary. Too old. Nice nose, though.

December 10, 2016 - Big wine. Tons of fruit. A bruiser; far from subtle. Tasty.

August 13, 2014 - Picked one up at a local grocery store, marked down to 12.99. That price and Monte Rosso on the label got me interested.
Dark ruby color. Nose of ripe/overripe cherry, raisin, orange peel, and cocoa. Medium to full bodied, fleshy, somewhat juicy and quite satisfying. The finish tingles with some ripe tannin and fruit intensity, which I think reflects the quality of the fruit and vineyard. Held together and improved a bit 3 days open. This is competently made in a high-ish alcohol, ripe style, and won't be for everyone (especially those into Bedrock, for example), but is California through and through. Really nice wine for the money, and will probably age a handful of years, 5-8 or so. 89+
