April 18, 2024 - The 2010 Il Poggione has consistently improved every year starting 2021. Now, in 2024, it has really opened up and balanced, and it's wonderful. In contrast to earlier years, when it was overly astringent, now it is well integrated and a real treat. Hard to put it down!

March 22, 2024 - Il Poggione Brunello Di Montalcino 2010
Nose of dusty black fruit with some dark chocolate, dusty tannins and some mint and spice. On the palate, lots of sour black cherries, mint, good elegance, chocolate, cocoa and clove. Elegant. 92/100

March 12, 2024 - PnP.... Tight on opening, but still enjoyable. Nose not giving off a lot until about 1 hour mark. Then opened to classic Brunello notes. Drank over about 4 hours. Dark and red cherries, coffee, spice, cedar and fine cocoa powder. Excellent balance. I see some comments that this might be over the hill, but I'm of the opposite mind that it's still a bit early to drink. I'm at the 3-5 year mark before opening others - if I can wait that long!

(Il Poggione (Proprietá Franceschi) Brunello di Montalcino) Medium dark red violet color; floral, raspberry, tart cherry, sandalwood, clove nose; tasty, velvety, rounded, ripe cherry, tart raspberry puree palate with near medium acidity; approachable now but could use 6-plus years; long finish (14.5% alcohol)
