Community Tasting Notes 4

October 26, 2008 - pre auction tasting (union league club, chicago IL): nose: the second I put my nose into the glass I know I'm drinking a chambolle, classic feminity to it with soft tones of purple floral tones, spices, slight hints of earth, and some sandalwood tones blend well together giving off the simple pleasures of life that is drinking chambolle musigny

taste: and the case of the 96s rears its acidic head. There are nice tones of sandalwood, purple florals, and bits of spice underneath, but the acid just shreads this on the palate

overall: I've been lucky lately with having some wide open 96s, this isn't one of them. I feel that there is some good upside on this, but the acid is just overbearing at this time and this could use another 3-5 years hopefully before trying again

October 26, 2008 - Edward Roberts International Pre-Auction Tasting (Union League Club of Chicago): Sampled at the Edward Roberts International Pre-Auction Tasting at the Union League Club of Chicago.
Tons of licorice on the nose. Sweet spice laced with white pepper.
Deeper color than many of the Cabernets today even with its age. Lovely and well rounded.
    A very solid buy.

October 25, 2008 - Nose: Hair perm solution initially hit my olfactory senses. Fruit was in hiding, but there was minor rumblings of raspberry.

Taste: OK - med to medium light body. Still holds plenty of acid. Good attack, but a somewhat hollow mid/finish. 87-88 Points.
