September 6, 2023 - Looking back at my previous notes, I have to admit I was wrong. This is getting better and better every year. It still does have some sour fruit making me think the vinetage was not completely ripe, however it has come into much better balance with time. The tannins are still very much there, so it could still use 3-5 years to get into a better state. However this was extremely enjoyable as a PnP and got better with a couple hours in bottle. A note, the cork was almost completely soiled, nothing of concern but I’m curious how my other bottles are doing.

August 16, 2022 - On the nose: dark fruit and anise. Tannins are still not resolved the flavor has mellowed a bit with a long finish. It’s a bit sour still. But it’s also delicious.

January 2, 2022 - Very tight and tannic when opened. Good strong nose that made me think it would be better developed. After sitting in the glass for an hour it mellowed a little. But, even the next day, it was still a bit astringent. I’ll let the other bottles rest for a couple of years and try again.

November 11, 2021 - Earthy on the nose and a bit closed. Opened up to show restrained fruit initially, then blossomed with dark red cherry. Good structure and a long finish. There was a moment at the start where i thought the wine may have turned, but the off flavor subsided.

September 5, 2021 - Great structure with lots of plum, blackberry and acidity. Full bodied, long tight finish.

It was surprisingly similar to the 2012 force majeure blend that followed it. Grapes are grapes!
