April 13, 2024 - Consistent with notes of 8/29/2020...clearly in a great window, this needed no decant and very little air to be fully expressive.

March 23, 2024 - Ripe dark friut over a leathery roasted tone, the nose, like the mouth is big and effusive but not particularly compelling. Tannins have melted away and the overall impression is soft and long. Decanted for two hours

December 25, 2023 - Give it 3.5 hours. Very good at 2 hours in the decanter but still hot and not quite showing everything in store.

We had this with a roast, but could easily have just left it for after the meal — the wine can stand on its own.

December 14, 2023 - Decanted one hour before service - three would probably have been better, but this is workable. In the glass, dark ruby at the rim, shading immediately to dark opaque reddish-black at the core. On the nose, high-toned raspberries and blueberries, with a reticent floral note and a touch of ocean water. On the palate, initially a silky bundle of ripe berries, with fresh ground pepper and then tannins cutting through on the mid-palate, and then the tannins take over on a long, tooth-staining finish. Will I give it the 5+ years of cellar time it needs before the next bottle? Probably not, but at least I tried to warn future me.
