February 11, 2024 - Opened and let sit for 2 hours before serving.
    Dark purple color.
Nose offers dark fruits and touch of red clay and oak.
Nice dark fruit with a black pepper note.
Good acidity to carry the dark fruit.
    Enjoyable.

May 9, 2023 - Bea can be hit or miss for me. Have had some wonderful bottles of Pipparello in the past - which is my favorite out of the Bea range. This was dense, heavy, chewy. It has the slightest acid lift to keep it from tipping over from the weight of the ripe fruit and alcohol - barely kept in balance. Some nice mix of dried herbs, black cherry, balsam and a touch of kirsch.

April 18, 2023 - Decanted with steak. I gave it seven years and it is still tight. Poor QPR. 14.5%

August 22, 2022 - Absolutely awesome on the pop and pour and just built up steam from there. The 2008 “Pipparello” is looking youthful at 14 years with a deep garnet color and opaque core. Loads of sediment though. On the nose, notes of dark cherry cordial, salmiakki, and fennel. The nose is ever so slightly volatile but not expecting a little of that from Bea would be unrealistic. On the palate, red bramble and blackberry preserves and all the near eastern spices you could want. Medium+ across the board; tannin, acid and alcohol. Incredible finish that is dry and lasts forever. As ever with the wines of Paolo and Giampiero; this is a wine with so much soul. In a fabulous place right now but will drink well through 2032. Bottle No. 3016/6633.

May 20, 2018 - 2nd LI Blind BYO (Primi Italian Steakhouse Islip): Decanted 3 hours. Inky and saturated with some new world gloss. Tannic, alcoholic and hairy - seemingly worse a day later. Some likable elements but this is a tough customer right now.
