December 7, 2022 - Decanted 30 minutes before service. In the glass, medium-pale gold, very clear. On the nose, honeysuckle, dried thyme, and a bit of petrol in the background. On the palate, soft lemon curd dominates, with secondary notes of smoke and petrol, with a lush texture. The tannins are completely resolved, and only the smallest bit of acid remains. Drink up.

November 14, 2020 - A bit too acidic for my taste and a bit one dimensional. I'm a big fan of Sanguis wines, but this one was disappointing.

July 1, 2018 - Has lost some of its structure since last tasted, and tending more toward fleshiness than the tight razor’s edge that so attracted us to this wine originally. That said, its nutty, almost marzipan, accent to the guava, pineapple, citrus and minerals that predominate make this a unique California offering. Although a full-bodied Chardonnay, there’s a distinct Rhonelike quality to it. Not quite the “98” I rated it years ago. But a delicious bottle that should be consumed now through 2021. April 23, 2017 - Rich layers of lemon grass, lychee, and stone fruits with a creamy and mineral finish. Not too oaky and buttery as some CA Chardonnays can be.

February 26, 2016 - A beam of bright light in an otherwise sorrowful day. Yellow straw with a gripping necklace. What a bouquet -- peach, apricot, Meyer lemon rind, pineapple, wet rocks, white flowers -- that flows onto the palate picking up some tart apple and toasty notes. A mile-long finish. Has taken on weight and even more complexity since last tasted. This could last another decade, easily. That said, I double-decanted this, and it was perfect. A stunner! (=Outstanding)
