Community Tasting Notes 10

October 22, 2022 - A good mouthful of port. Nose is very nice with warm licorice, tobacco and ripe plums. A bit of alcohol penetrates the sweetness nicely. Promising. The palate is nice but falls a bit short of the nose’s promise. Good flavor but a bit thin. The tobacco on the finish is a touch drying. While there is some tannin, I think I will drink the remaining bottles sooner rather than later. Good plus but not more. (90+?)

May 9, 2020 - Deep purple with a ruby rim. Black cherry, plum , light tobacco, and minerals. Good balance, not tannic even though its so young.

October 19, 2019 - Very different to the guimaraens 2012 I had. Lots of red fruit, graceful and feminine. Really rather nice now.

February 17, 2017 - Good pretty straight forward vintage port. Needs some time to come together.

December 3, 2016 - Good stuff. Not a regular vintage Port. Taylor Fladgate didn't declare a general vintage for Port wine in 2012. But it made this vintage for this particular quinta. That is what some of the Port makers do when they don't declare a general vintage, but the grapes from their special quintas are good. $50. Will probably not buy this vintage again. Still have a bottle of 2005.
