Community Tasting Notes 2

    October 24, 2014 - Decanted and tried.

There is a nice old cab nose with no barnyard or funk. Still plenty of fruit left and also a soft tannic backbone. The Finnish was a bit musty and unappealing, but after forty minutes the wine was drinking beautifully. This is why we cellar wine.

My impressions are very similar to my review of this wine in Jan.

"Dark red, there is an appealing nose of wet earth, vanilla and cherries. This is not a heavyweight red but it has aged beautifully. The pallet shows tart red fruit, coffee, cedar, minerals and hints of bakers chocolate. There is still a soft tannic structure that is well integrated. I expect this to be drinking well through 2016. I have 5 bottles left and intend to find out."

January 9, 2014 - A Medoc Cru Bourgeois that has been in my cellar for decades. It has suffered through 2 moves, so I am never sure what to expect. In this case I was delighted.
