Community Tasting Notes 5

December 29, 2019 - Not much on the nose. On the palate, this delivers firm acidity but rather less of the richness and roundness that one sees in better years. There’s a lovely nuttiness though that helps balance out the acidity. A different experience from the usual one, but this wine undoubtedly gives pleasure, if slightly at the austere end of the spectrum. No rush here.

November 25, 2018 - Surprisingly dark golden/yellow color for a dry wine with only 12 % ABV. Restrained on the nose with notes of oak, honey, abricot, wool and herbs. On the palate dry, tangy and mouth-filling with extremely high acidity. Incredibly intense with tons of salty minerality, to me very much reminiscent of some Bérêche Champagnes. A powerful wine with majestically firm mouthfeel. You can definitely sense the oak there but I do not think it distracts from all the classic Chenin-goodness at all.

November 7, 2015 - Apple, tropical fruits, lemon, and a hint of honey on the nose. A faint suggestion of oak on the back end. There is a little residual sugar, but masked by the zinging acidity which really is remarkable - in no way unpleasant, but what a jolt! Very nice for the price.

January 1, 2015 - Clean and fresh, medium intensity on the nose. Floral and tropical fruit aromas. Very (almost too) youthful. Dry and medium bodied on the palate. Medium plus acidity. Densely packed palate. Juicy pineapple, lime, apple. Long finish. Excellent quality, well balanced. PQR is spot on with this wine, worth every penny. A long road ahead of this wine, it will only get better.

November 17, 2014 - Much fresher, cleaner and "un-masked" compared to the Plus, less depth and concentration, bright acidity, slight bitterness, could be a bit more generous. Really good length. 87-89
