July 9, 2016 - Cork popped cleanly, with almost no saturation. Fresh and clean scents even from the bottle even before hitting the glass -- macerated strawberry, black raspberry, asphalt after rain and crushed flowers. Incredibly young and vibrant on the palate, nicely-spicy black cherry, with tingly acidity and a mineral spine. With some air, the wine began to show earth and mushroom, hinting at what more bottle age may bring. For now, it hard to believe this is a 12 year old California pinot. Excellent.

June 22, 2011 - 14.1% alcohol. Beautiful wine that probably is drinking at its peak right now. Fantastic aromatics -- the WesMar signature -- with red cherry, black cherry, a touch of stem, minerals, and earthy-mushroom notes. In the mouth, still vibrant and avoiding the pratfalls of 2004. Focused and balanced, with racy red and black cherry fruit, a strong backbone of minerals, earth, mushroom, and spice notes. Tangy acidity. Long finish that is soft and delicious. A-

January 12, 2011 - Last bottle sadly. Nose is still incredible with loads of strawberry, cherry and a bit of pomegranate.

February 19, 2010 - VLG Does Blind Pinot Noir, From Anywhere 2003-2005: Served blind. Well no controversy here. Pretty much universally hated. I do think it was flawed as there was definitely something weird going on with the aromatics. Still, I was able to easily recognize it as a WesMar. By far the biggest aromatics of the day ... probably not a good thing with this bottle. Well there was plenty to take home. I poured a glass for Laura who said yum when she smelled it. Shared with a few other friends too who commented on the smell but they really liked the wine.

February 19, 2010 - VLG Does Pinots from 2003-2005 Blind (Jason Hagen's office): Served blind. Very ripe fruited aromas showing some VA over grapey pruney primary fruit. Ripe ugly palate that showed like a cheap wine with VA. Jason wondered if it was flawed somehow and judging by the other notes I have to wonder. I didn't notice a 'flaw' as such. It was just ugly.
