March 14, 2017 - Unusual melon and devt citrus flavours. Fun to try, became a bit one dimensional after a while in the glass. Well made but not a variety I'd bother with.

There's a distinct orange peel snap on the finish. Spice, salt and light pineapple fruit tones complete the picture in the best skin contact white I have had from California.

May 9, 2016 - A very interesting Cortese -- nothing like the Gavi I typically think of. Deep gold color, a color I'd typically associate with a dessert wine. Fun, floral, perfume-y, fragrant nose. Vibrant acidity when the bottle first opens, which (unhappily) fades with time. Still some decent tartness over the course of a few hours. Candied citrus fruits, with thick, dessert-y consistency.

November 25, 2014 - The Jancis Robinson grape encyclopedia describes Cortese as a relatively bland grape. I hope she gets to taste this wine, because it is anything but bland. There is an immediate fruitiness, along with a nutty quality that I have not found in any other young wine. It is really quite amazing. It's crisp, refreshing, and very persistent. I literally could not stop from going back time after time for another sip. Delicious, and unique wine from Sam Bilbro at Idlewild.
