Community Tasting Notes 5

January 7, 2020 - Sat in the glass for about 30min before consumed although tasted on opening. First taste out of the bottle was terrible, a mouthful of acidic liquid, thought this one may be headed for the sink. After 30min in the glass it transformed into a pretty good wine. Dark fruits on both the nose and the palate, a light tannins on the finish. If I were to rate this wine I would give it a 88 but I am not sure that it wasn't slightly flawed with that first taste out of the bottle.

September 30, 2019 - Pales in comparison to St. Innocent- any St. Innocent- shit, even Drouhin Rose Rock that I can get at CostCo... I hate that this wine costs so much- but just utterly un-delivers.

Muted fruit, soft, salty acid- plummy fruit, limpid and simple. Either this needs another 15 years in the bottle, or this was never a great wine to begin with... I am leaning towards the latter.

This is the wine equivalent of an $80.00 sigh.

May 24, 2019 - PnP, but opened a bit with some air. Mostly dark red fruit, earth, and a touch of tannin, with relatively balanced acidity, in a medium bodied wine. However, not as satisfying as the 2011 Evenstad Reserve consumed a couple of nights earlier. In fact, neither wine was exciting, but 2011 was not a stellar pinot noir vintage in Oregon. I guess this wine will hold for a couple of years.

February 8, 2015 - I find that many of the wines from Domaine Serene are very well made but need a lot of time in the bottle or a very long decant. Meaning that few of their wines are ready to pop and pour a year or three from the vintage date. Yes I did say 3 :)

Nice medium purple and with good clarity in the glass (no decant). Nose was tight but bright cherry, red berry and earthy elements were present.

Medium body and the tannin's are still edgy on this 2011. Bright acids lift the red fruits up but the mid palate and the finish are pretty tight yet.

A well made Pinot Noir but leave it lay for a while or open the day before you want to enjoy.
