Community Tasting Notes 2

March 26, 2017 - Meh. Fairly underwhelming. Drinkable but simple, lacking anything distinguishing.

October 8, 2014 - One might do a double-take on seeing a chateau-bottled St. Emilion (and not a satellite) for $15. Unfortunately, this is not a mis-priced find. It is slightly overpriced for what it is. Its best contribution might be to remind you of a very good right bank Bordeaux you may have had in the past while not remarkable by itself. The grapes in this tiny vineyard may have not matured fully in 2012.

It feels much lighter-bodied than its 14% alcohol might imply. It is drinkable now with almost no tannins to recommend cellaring. It is soft and rounded due to lack of tannins but not enough body feel to call it velvety. Hints of black-fruit and leather and a pleasant aroma tinged with vanilla.

In short, it is just a shallow version of a good right bank Bordeaux that reminds you of the under-stated and delicate Bordeauxs before they started to compete with New World wine tastes but does not have enough by itself to recommend highly. The high alcohol content for an old world style wine is a distraction.

Will be overpowered by most food so best with very mild cheeses and crackers.
