November 30, 2022 - Hard to believe that I have not opened a bottle of this for seven years, but there it is. I will be opening more soon, as I think it is at peak, and maybe just teetering over the edge to start a gentle decline. The tart passion fruit is still evident, but it’s getting a touch honeyed, and the alcohol sticks out a bit until the wine gets some air. As is so often the case my favorite element is the mouthfeel, which has both richness and precision, the broad shoulders of the Rheingau chiseled to a noble form. Enjoy now and soon.

November 20, 2021 - Should have paid more time and patience to talk with it. Maybe slight higher temperature to serve or not to pair it with any dish in the first place or even serve it alone.

January 28, 2020 - Poured a light golden yellow to the stem. Very abundant nose of lychee, grapefruit, lanolin, and honeysuckle. Extremely rich on the palate(maybe too much so) with gobs of dry extract, pineapple, apricot, and assorted sweet fruit. I felt the wine lacked tension and acidity to balance it out.

If it was not specifically labeled a trocken, I would have easily mistaken this for a Kabinett, almost bordering on Spatlese level. Unctuous, sweet, and almost overbearing for its designation. Not what I was expecting here. Maybe several years will balance this out.

March 26, 2017 - This is just so ridiculously good!

And the ageing gives it more and more! Apricot, lychee, petroleum, youghurt! Delicious!

    August 24, 2016 - Delicious.
