May 17, 2016 - Much much better than the previous tasting which confirmed the suspicion that earlier bottle was flawed. Aromas of ripe dark fruits with palate of savoury fruits and leather. Heavy-bodied with soft tannins

April 9, 2016 - Not sure if the bottle was flawed. Honestly rather disappointed here albeit the low price point. Nose was promising with dark cherries, earth and leather. On the palate though the fleshy dark fruit flavours and spice was fleeting with iron and acid left behind. Disjointed structure and short finish.

big and extracted tempranillo which i've come to expect from Toro.

front loaded with sticky dark fruit, chewy oak, and tangy barnyard.
creamy full body with dusty tannins midpalate yet dry and grippy on the finish. i assume little new oak was used. the wood adds weight and texture but doesn't overwhelm the palate. lacking acid.

notes of black cherry preserves, ripe blueberry, and raisins.
The bretty barnyard/horse note shows itself more on the nose while the palate offers a cleaner minerality. A pervasive old world cigar box/leather aroma does provide something distinctly spanish which i always enjoy.

a bit sappy and extracted for my palate but i definitely enjoyed this wine. for under $20 this is reccomended but the structure is too clumsy to demand a higher price point.
