February 25, 2021 - Nose still much on the oak, charcoal, smoky, cloves, a bit of eucalyptus after a bit of air, black fruits slightly,

palate is way better than nose, elegant and fresh, good acid, a light bell pepper, dark black fruits here and not on the nose, begins to age , and evolution, getting together slowly, 3/5 more to express fully I reckon

April 28, 2020 - April 28, 2020. Decent wine, nothing wrong with it, but also nothing much to write home about. Almost earthy, medium body, dark red, quite tannic, almost Italian in style, and a limited range of flavors. Eucalyptus? Didn’t notice it. Not bad. Not great. 87 points. … April 29, 2022. Last bottle, much more enjoyable. Still quite tannic. Could have been kept for a few more years. 90 points today, average 88, say.

    February 15, 2016 - Monday night blinds - Feb15 (Home (Noe st)): (non-blind)
Overall: a nice nose but the palate is a bit one-tone for me.
    -------
    Full Notes:

Moderate minus concentration ruby to slight red at the rim.

    Nose:
    Fruit and oak-driven.
Notes of gingerbread and menthol/eucalyptus with indistinct blackcurrant - not obviously cabernet or merlot. Possibly near Eucalyptus trees. I was wondering whether gingerbread is American oak or Eucalyptus/Australia. But in this case I think it's australia (producer uses french oak). This is reminding me of Penfolds - bin 407.

Dry with a ripe attack, slight perceptible RS
    Medium plus body
    Elevated alcohol - 14.5% (correct).
    Elevated acid
Moderate plus tannins - plush and rounded.

    Finish is moderate plus.

This is simple, but really well executed. Bright and new-world.

    Guesses: ~40-50% new American oak.
    Age: New: 2013.

Chilean Cab: Probably not- it has menthol, and the ripeness seems a bit too high.

Actually: Balnaves Coonawarra Cab Merlot - 2012.

February 15, 2016 - Deductive Tasting (Blind); 2/14/2016-2/15/2016 (Rajiv's House, San Francisco): Deep ruby with minimal bricking; nose is moderately aromatic with red cherry, menthol; palate is medium bodied, rough medium-plus tannin, medium-plus acid, high alcohol at 14.5%; finish is medium length. This seems young, needs time to integrate, not that complex or deep at the moment in its fruit character. Seems like an Italian, most likely Sangiovese, seems thinner than most Brunello so possibly a Chianti Classico. 80-84

February 11, 2016 - if you like eucalyptus, than this is your wine. Dominant on the nose, with very nice cab/Merlot reds across the palate. Finish is adequate, with just a smidge of tannin.
