April 16, 2024 - Beautifully elegant with red fruit, a burgundy drinker’s Bordeaux.

April 16, 2024 - Decanted to serve. It had a beautiful nose with red fruit, truffle, perfume, and very much Burgundian like. On the palate, it had wonderful fruit purity. The 01 L’evangile is not about power but more about its smoothness and finesse. Actually I like it more than the classic 01 Cheval Blanc tonight. It is a Bordeaux Burgundy lovers would enjoy very much. 93-94

March 26, 2023 - blind. Second day sample. initially thinking ‘00 right bank but with some air this added a distinct eucalyptus note fruit seemed more black than red --suggesting some can sauv/cab franc. Quite smooth and polished, with lovely leather and tobacco notes. Clearly mature and giving much pleasure. Holding together well despite being day 2

March 24, 2023 - Purchased at auction. The bottle was sound, with intense notes of espresso and coffee, laced with red plum, black cherry and light blonde tobacco. Large in scale, fairly heavy extraction but what seems like a rather low pH to maintain balance. I think it’s probably about as good as it stands to become and felt just a little muddy.

March 17, 2023 - Right bank Bordeaux: Brought this for a friend. Was quite tough to tell this and the Péby Faugères apart which made sense on reveal given that they were from the same vintage. When this got going this was superb, restrained blackcurrant and cassis fruit, forest floor that screamed traditional Bordeaux. With time in the glass this developed definition with layered dark fruit. Third favourite on the night.
