Community Tasting Notes 16

June 11, 2020 - 41 months after the prior, and our last of 21(!) bottles: This has smoothed out considerably since our first — but it certainly retains lovely oxidative notes and drive. Nicely integrated (and enjoyable for its distinctiveness) in small pours over seven nights.

Still in a great place with no sign of slowing down. Dry, just starting to taste a little nutty, medium acid, apple skins, and that signature oxidative bit.
A decade in and robust as all get out. Drink or hold depending on palate preference.

January 14, 2017 - More of the same as described in our note last month. We have not seen subsequent vintages of this (we have and have enjoyed the even more dramatic 2007) -- and as we near our supply of this vintage, we will be looking out for later years.

December 12, 2016 - More of the same. Serious acidity. And: old apples! Meted out over 7 nights, simply corked in between, and of course served not at all cold -- but just below cold room temp. This is a lovely and distinctive winter blanc.

  • bacchuszuo Likes this wine: 93 points

July 22, 2016 - Consistent, 93 so far with potential to hit 95. Very complex and long after 1 hr decanting....a big and complex wine with ample acidity for easy Chinese food pairing. Worked wonder with intestine claypot and especially lobster brain fried rice.
