    October 16, 2022 - popped and poured
Colour mid ruby pink to clear on the rim slight caramel hue 15/15
Nose fruit aromas of strawberry cherry plum cranberry followed by , cedary spice , dried herbs , mushroom ,smoky tobacco , forest floor undergrowth , great complexity 28/30
Palate med bodied amazing complexity of flavours from primary fruits to secondary elements , silky mouthfeel , savoury , mushroom , dark cherry, plenty of crisp acidity thoughout the palate , long clean finish 42/44
Overall Now with 10 years still drinking very young with primary fruit aromas and flavours . so have had Rippon wines when young but their best days are with a few years cellaring , in this case 10 years and potentially will hold this level for 5+ years 11/11

February 13, 2022 - Double decanted before taking out to lunch and drank 3 or 4 hours later. Lovely wine, medium body, still plenty of fruit but showing some development, good acidity and just delicious

    May 23, 2021 - I find Pinot frustratingly inconsistent.

After not particularly enjoying my last bottle of this, I opened up expecting to throw it out post a sip or two....

    Surprise, surprise...it was delightful.

Everything you could expect from a good Pinot.

Strawberries & cherries & so very refined.

June 12, 2020 - This was a neglected bottle of Wanaka Pinot.

It was nice enough though some way short of the very best at its price point.

Good fruit and typical Pinot aromas but it lacked depth and it faded quickly.

I wonder if its best days are now in the past.

June 3, 2017 - Transparent lighter red with rusty highlights. A floral, elegant perfume, herbal, earthy, brushwood notes. Elegant, refined and pure, particularly on the entry but with mid palate weight. Surprising structure and length on the back palate. Spherical, suave tannins and racy but not over-prominent acids. Blood orange, cranberry and dried herbs. This is one off the best Rippons I've ever had, I thought better than the recent 2012 Emma's. 2012 was a great vintage for Rippon, allowing their wines to fill out, while retaining their typical freshness and refinement.
