October 4, 2019 - The wine appears light, ruby red, but it starts to turn garnet. On the nose the wine has medium+ intensity and is starting to show developing flavours. It has aromas of violets, red cherries, raspberries, strawberries, some cooked vegetable like asparagus, which I find quite typical for NZ Pinot Noir, laurel, some minerality of graphite, cedar, some smokey, meaty aroma and a hint of forest floor and mushroom. On the palate the wine is dry, with high acidity (which makes sense since it comes from the coastal Awatere), medium- tannins, medium alcohol, medium- body, and a medium finish. The flavour intensity is medium+ with bright cherry flavours, again that smokey note and some laurel. Overall, this is a great New World Pinot noir.

On the second day less reductive notes of the cooked vegetables and mushroom. A more fruity and charred wood character emerged. The graphite note is more pronounced as well.

Drank from Riedel Vinum Pinot Noir (Burgundy).

March 11, 2019 - Weekly tasting group RWP #323; Six flights fully blind; we knew nothing, but had to choose: same varietal or same country. (@ MW): In the bouquet a bit rustic and graphite. On the palate vanilla, red berries and cherries, laurel, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin.

March 22, 2018 - Aired in the glass ca 1/2 hour. The nose was initially a bit muted but started to show a bit of funky notes like cooked vegetables. Medium bodied, smooth and supple with very silky tannins, showing mostly red fruit with raspberry in the fore, but with more airing in the glass the raspberry faded, leaving still a very balanced and smooth palate. A slight umami or meaty aspect as well. Nice how well the oak is hidden here. One of the best NZ Pinots I've tasted in many years.

August 5, 2015 - Underbar. Sammetslen och fräsch. Bra balanserad lovar gott. Väntar 4-5 år innan jag provar nästa. Bra riktigt fin elegant PN fr NZ. Känn lite mer Fransk i stilen med bra balans i syrorna. Mycket trevlig.
