Community Tasting Notes 3

October 17, 2020 - Splash decanted then left for 90 minutes before consumption. All baked black fruits, vanilla, plain chocolate, more fleshy than juicy on the palate with grippy, grainy tannins and plenty more ripe black fruit. Yum.

March 14, 2020 - Splash decanted + massive agitation + an hour helps this come out of it's reductive shell to reveal plums, blackberry, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol warmth that is wonderfully integrated, softy tannins. Smashable in a 'big boisterous Barossa' way but give it a few hours to open up...

About half a bottle of this stayed under argon for 6 days and then tucked into once more. Now shows plain chocolate and blackberry, bramble and cherry, slightly dusty spice. a little sourness on the palate, tannic burr, more plain chcolate and blackberries. Still showing nicely.

January 26, 2019 - In the decanter for 90mins prior to drinking, it started opening up after 2 hours.
Garnet, no signs of bricking. Really powerful and fragrant nose, a pleasure to take a step back and just sit and smell for a bit. Shiraz predominate, blackcurrant, blackberry and cassis, with Mataro influenced undertones of violets and lavender perhaps. Slight imbalance on the plate, I think the tannins outgrip the acid. A sweet edge underpins a solid medium + finish. This is a really fun wine to drink. The lowish acid makes me think its in a good space now and to enjoy with an element of freshness about it, even at 9 years. Stained tears suggest alcohol is much greater than its 14%. I have enjoyed this a lot.
