May 27, 2017 - Unscrewed and poured, moderate yellow-gold hue. Super expressive nose shows green apple, lime zest, subtle petrol, a tinge of matchstick from reduction and flinty minerals galore. Light to moderate-light body with decent concentration and great acidity. On the palate, this Grüner is all about immediate fruit on the front complimented by a cascade of stoney minerals, which makes it ridiculously easy to drink in spite of the complexity.
Just a great bottle of wine, groovy even.

July 10, 2016 - Not long ago, I was buying nice grüners by the glass for two euros in Viennese wine bar restaurants. A quarter liter (viertel) at a heuriger was maybe four euros. But it seems hard to find a good, reasonably-priced grüner outside of Austria. Well, this Weingut Hirsch fills the ticket. Excellent flavor profile and balance between fruit, refreshing acidity, and classic piquant finish. At $18 it's not cheap, but good luck trying to find a better representative of the variety at a lower price -- outside of Austria.

April 8, 2016 - Yummers! Fresh mown grass, lemon, apricot on nose; more on palate with a bit of turmeric added in. Crisp, clean, great summer wine.

February 18, 2016 - Full of mustardy splendor one taster notes. Shows '13 and very green and fresh and sparkly brilliant.

November 3, 2015 - Pale clear gold. This has that "summer sipper" character, but with more character & depth than those crown cap liter bottles. A good balance of fruit & acidity. Bright & fresh texture, on the light side of medium bodied. Surprisingly rich fruit, it has a stone fruit character that coats the palate a bit.

Grace & delicacy are evident on the citrus/floral aromatics. Those flavors get a boost from the peachiness mentioned above. The Gobelsburger tastes last week eclipses this, but a true qpr winner in GV.
