December 15, 2020 - Clear with thick sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Dark garnet color with a violet rim. Notes of cherry, dried roses, leather, iron, iodine, sage and tobacco. Same notes are reflected on the palate, dry, medium bodied, fairly grippy tannins for a wine this age, lingering finish.
A fully mature bottle that is ready to be enjoyed. I think this will linger in this stage for a few years but I don't see any benefit on waiting at this point.

September 9, 2018 - Medium crimson with slight bricking, perfumed and high-toned nose of menthol, sage, violets, blueberry and black cherry with undertones of earth, bright red fruit on the attack followed by layered red and black fruit, juicy acidity and soft, well integrated tannins on the mid-palate, finish is long and still rather fruit forward with spicy black fruit, powdered cherry and mineral streaks

Note: the late glasses got more complex suggesting there's still room to grow

August 22, 2014 - Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $60+ (Bin 75): Darker core with dark dull garnet rim; weedy, root vegetables, earth, darker fruit along with some red, aged, nutty, kind of bizarre, a distinct green note, tannin; didn't make sense to call Nebbiolo on this but the blend kind of makes sense.

March 24, 2014 - Still drinks well. Soft tannins, with cherry and a hint of prunes and leather on the nose. Cherry and chocolate on the palate. I think it still has some life, but won't improve.

October 14, 2012 - Still lively looking. Light to medium garnet with ever so slight brick on the edge. Sweet floral, red fruit, mocha and spice notes on the nose. Nebbiolo and pinot noir obvious in the blend but the cab and merlot less so. Both cherry and strawberry on the palate with a little chocolate and a little pumpkin spice. Fresh acidity. More lively than I expected. Still improving after 90 minutes after decanting. I upgraded my score while writing it as it seemed to get very lush and layered and soft. I wish this wasn't my only bottle!
