Community Tasting Notes 11

  • LW31 Does not like this wine:

May 18, 2020 - Underwhelming. One dimensional and rather stern. No joy here, not my style of bojo.

  • perisolb Likes this wine:

March 21, 2020 - Floral nose, violets, bitter herbs, a bit reductive. Silky mouthfeel, medium+ acidity. Redcurrants, strawberries, long strawberry aftertaste. Great balance. Reminds me of Burgundy PNs. Very good, completely different experience from the previous bottle two years back.

March 19, 2020 - Noticeable barnyard brett on the nose, some leathery notes, there’s decent darker berry fruit on the palate, though a bit reserved, good balance, with some bitterness, probably from the brett, and a little muddy character from what seems to be oak. A bit disappointing for what should be a higher cuvée.

Night 2: much of the barnyard seems to have dissipated, along with some of the muddiness, leaving a cleaner, fresher wine to show through. Quite nice darker berry, good acidity with a hint of citrus zing, and some slight chalky/grippy tannins. Definitely better, but better enough for the price differential between this and the regular bottling? Probably not.

January 19, 2018 - Cherry on the nose, a bit reductive. Good acidity. Velvety mouthfeel. Fruit-driven, but darker berries than I am used to in bojos. Ripe cherries, but perhaps also balckberries or something along those lines, not strawberries and raspberries. Something close to licorice in the finish and something bitter. While the concentration is lower, it reminds me a bit of mourvèdre or other typical southern European wines, due to the ripeness, the licorice and the bitterness. A good wine, no doubt, but not my favorite style of bojo.
