March 4, 2020 - I'm sorry that the 21 prior reviewers did not wait to open their bottles until now. This wine has remained in my cellar since it was given to me as a gift, over a decade ago. Tonight, we opened it. Stunning for a bottle priced in the mid-$20s. Completely integrated and balanced. Blue and dark fruits predominating. Lingering finish. This is a completely different experience than what was reported below. This was just an excellent bottle.

March 1, 2011 - Soapy smell right when opened that went away after a few minutes and turned to a fresh grape juice smell. A bit harsh at first but the complexity came out from hiding half way through the meal. I did not think a decant was needed at this age but it clearly was. It turned out to be a delicious wine with dark flavor.

September 9, 2010 - Dark red. Vegetal nose that disappears as the wine breathes. Wine is heavy, and spent most of my time trying to figure out what it actually was offering. In the end, athough I want Jack London to be a great wine, this bottle clearly fell short. If you are opening a bottle, I recommend decanting to allow it to breath for an hour and to remove sediment.

December 11, 2008 - Barely Average Wine. Very grapey even when I let it breathe for 20 minutes
