  December 26, 2022 - This wine is an all-encompassing void of darkness. Tasting like a strawberry preserve covered, herb-crusted NY strip steak, still sitting in the cast iron skillet, the latter of which proceeds to smack you in the face. Powdery tannin on the finish as the herbs and passing green bell pepper come back and remind you this is Cab Franc along with what I can only describe as floral violets which I also often get from MacDonald Cab Sauv - must me some kind of To Kalon trickery. It’s not “heavy” like grape shake, as it has a good dose of mouth watering acidity, but it’s also not for the faint of heart. Don’t even attempt to pair with food - it will take over every single gustatory receptor, forcing itself to center stage; it’s a course in and of itself.

  April 18, 2020 - Saw one critic’s score of 96, and I think that is pretty close. Nose started off a bit green/funky, but that blew off. Otherwise, this wine was close to perfect and what you would expect from this vineyard. Dark, floral-scented fruit with mocha notes on the finish. Add in some herb and cedar notes, and a long velvety finish. Sadly, this was my one and only bottle.

  September 27, 2016 - Swirling dark cherry and blueberry liquor notes along with hints of crushed stone. A very balanced and elegant wine that should continue to improve and develop. Given this is sourced from one of Napa's finest sites and with 70ish year old vines, the terrior's voice should continue to grow. I love everything that this wine represents.
