January 31, 2023 - ‘11 Collier Ripaille alongside ‘11 and ‘14 Guiberteau Arboises. The Collier was my least favorite of the bunch; decent fruit, but marred by a bit too much Brett for my preference. ‘11 Guiberteau was in the middle, though showing a bit underripe with more green pyrazine notes than I enjoy. ‘14 Guiberteau did really well, having put on some weight over the past few years while demonstrating a great balance between cab franc character and a bit of polish.

January 22, 2021 - Blinded but immediately recognized as Loire Cab Franc. Green pyrazine dominates but doesn't overwhelm. Also notes of earth, red and blue fruit. Palate is well balanced with juicy acidity. Delicious bottle.

November 28, 2019 - Mini session at Maison Dakota. Pop and poured. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is dirtyy, pronounced intensity, with aromas of stinky animal meat funk, herbal capsicums, bell pepper spice, cassis, red cherries. Developing.
on the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium- tannins, elegant medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with aromas of leather, meat, capsicums, bell pepper spice, cassis, red cherries. Long finish.
Very good quality for me. With the elegance and also the herbal capsicums, this is without a doubt a Loire Cabernet Franc as my blind guess. I was definitely thinking a Clos Rougeard given the level of stink and brett. Still developing over the next few years. Drink and enjoy.
Turns out to be made by Antoine Foucault (yes, son of Chalry Foucault of Clos Rougeard) and Caroline Boireau!

June 22, 2019 - Misc wines at MGs place: Nice and clean fruit but also a bit anonymous.

May 1, 2019 - (@ The Morris, SF, with Paul Einbund) I wanted to love this wine, and I'm not afraid of a bit of brett, but the brett completely dominates the nose -- something between stinky socks and hospital bandages. There's a less-unpleasant funkiness and complexity in the mouth, with a lot of length, depth, and signs of maturity, but here too the wine borders on unclean. Plus there's a moderate amount of reduction that feels like a flaw. Definitely an interesting wine, but I think the winemaking is too unclean here.
