  April 21, 2018 - Champagnes vs CA Sparklers (My house): Tasted blind, I thought this was the Louis Roederer. It was up against a low-performing Carneros curve (ala Tattinger), which made it seem tastier. My notes say it was smoothly put together with more restrained and elegant fruit than the sparkler alongside. Obviously Champagne.

Similar palate of fairly simple white fruit flavours, with mid-coarse bubbles, and medium weight. Finishes a bit short. Just OK, and you pay for the name here. Plenty of better options at the price, but few as widely available.

  December 20, 1990 - With K at dinner at the Carnelian Room (SF) on our 10th anniversary. Golden color. Decent stream of bubbles initially disappeared quickly. Viscous. Good nose, nothing distinct. Good flavor. Nice. Dry. Good wine. 4-10-15-7: 86/100.
