  July 4, 2009 - The nose is rich and dark, with beautiful if subtle nuances of earth, grapefruit, and medicinal herbs. Super complex and almost mesmerizingly smooth, the palate is a riot of perfectly-poised oppositions: bitter but sweet, brooding but upbeat, darkly rich but light on its feet. It's like great literature in a glass.

  July 11, 2008 - Took an hour so to open up. Dusty nose with earthiness and red licorice. Light to medium bodied, fairly simple not too much fruit. Getting a lot of cherry cough syrup on the finish. Coming across a little hot.

  May 6, 2006 - A good effort. Black fruits, pepper and a subtle 'dirty' wet saddle hint on the nose. Solid fruit at the onset, smooth earthy tones on the tail. Enjoyed the first glass as much as the last. A reasonable value.
