December 23, 2023 - Nose: Tons of black olive and black cherries, spice notes, black pepper, roasted meats, and violets. Became more layered with air.

Palate is Medium-full bodied with medium+ acidity and silky tannins. Solid structure, but the feel is nuanced and flowing with bacon fat, black cherries, black pepper, roasted meats, violets, and incense tones.

    Very full long finish.

    Classic old style CdP!

March 18, 2021 - Will the real Mr. Heartache please stand up and cry - there he is, this is the real deal, manly wine, intense on the stoney minerals, unforgiving, yet so intense in it's identy, you feel priviliged to have met him. This is Old School, this is real wine, makes you wonder ... many years to go.

May 29, 2019 - Old-school Hermitage with very high acidity, meaty with notes of tobacco and leather. The fruit is dark and rustic, this has character. A treat.

April 27, 2019 - Northern Rhone Dinner at Marc's (DC/Silver Spring MD): AFWE perspective. Black olives for days on the nose. Black fruit, strong acidity, Super intense. Too big for me, just felt unbalanced.

December 14, 2017 - Christmas Wimps (La Tromplette, Chiswick): Deep garnet, slightly cloudy. Lovely complex Northern Rhone nose, black olive, meat, underlying succulent blackcurrant fruit, floral top-note. Medium/full, lovely soft texture, complex dark fruit, meaty notes, vibrant acidity, juicy core of fruit still, long finish. Just lovely *****.
