Community Tasting Notes 22

March 18, 2022 - Dark ruby. Black raspberry, anise, roses, and graphite on the nose, with a deft touch of burnt oak. A whiff of acetone volatile acid. Clear sweet plum fruit on the palate, a touch ripe, almost light bodied, acids not quite there, smooth tannins. Overall impression on the palate is a little confused, and there is still that back note of volatile acid. In the end we poured it into the vinegar crock and opened a different bottle. 14.1% alcohol. [My notes on this wine are all over the map, is it me or is it bottle variation?]

February 2, 2021 - Nose of dark plum, tobacco, graphite, and aromatic pine forest. Dark aromatic fruit on the palate with rich smooth chocolate tannins, savory acid back notes. Well structured and balanced, full figured but taut.

December 8, 2020 - Pleasant, drinking well, not especially memorable. New world, full bodied, lots of fruit but goes well with food.

October 16, 2020 - A pleasant surprise as I stumbled across three of these bottles when rearranging boxes downstairs. Let it breathe for a couple of hours. Very much a new world wine. Fruit is pretty bold but pairs well with fattier cuts of meat. Pronounced finish.

May 16, 2020 - Generous bright aromas of dark plums, black coffee, corn husk, and purple flowers. Bright sexy fruit on the palate with muscular density moving into an aromatic salty back note. Works with brownies.
