February 16, 2024 - Unfortunately, we didn't decant this long enough as it just began to show itself in the last sips. Very structured still with great depth of black fruits lurking underneath. Regal and refined but not unfurling itself yet especially compared to the wide-open and seductive 1990 drunk alongside. The finish just hints at the amazing complexity to come here with notes of dark spices and sweet Latour earth. A legend in the making but it needs a lot more time before its gifts are fully revealed. Decanted for 2 hours. 95+

December 10, 2023 - Released from cellar of Chateau Latour in 2016.
Drink beautifully after aeration for 6 hours.
Medium ruby to deep garnet. Nose shows black fruits, purple flowers, cedar, tobacco, meat, and celery. On the palate, it is concentrated, pure, layered, perfectly balanced, and militarily precise. Finish is long, with fruits, spices, and oak.
    What a solemn wine.

December 6, 2023 - Still primary but what a wine. Decant for at least 5 hours if you want all the fireworks.

November 25, 2023 - True beauty. Wine for royalty.

This has come a long way since my last bottle 6 or so years ago. Starting to develop secondary tertiary flavors.

Decanted about 6 hours then drank over 2. Kept getting better and better. Could have used even more air!

Regardless the balance and finish are sublime. Great tobacco, cedar, eucalyptus, cassis. This will go for ages but no harm in drinking now with a decent decant. Nose on point.

October 30, 2023 - Pop and pour. The 2000 Latour, although not fully ready, was just spot on with so much sfuffing and finesse. It was almost a no brainer that it was excellent. I wish I had more time to follow through the evening. But I can say with confidence that it is probably the best Latour after 82, if not better. The 95 Latour was excellent on its own, but really shy to the 00.

September 21, 2023 - Wow!! Third of 6 and now perfect. Balance, fruit, superb. Black fruits, rich and seamless. Opulent but focussed. Velvet. Not in your face, just sit back and enjoy. Profound. ******

July 4, 2023 - Just entering the start of its long drinking window, everything about this wine rocks! The nose, with its cedar, range of tobaccos, currants, smoke, spice, and blackberries is what you initially notice. But it is on the palate, with its concentration, length, purity, expansiveness, and richness that owns the show. There is no hurry to drink this future legend. But if you are sitting on a case, why not check it out? Drink from 2023-2065.

June 11, 2023 - 2000 Pauillac (Boston Commanderie de Bordeaux): I'm lucky to have the chance to taste good pours from 3 different bottles of this on the same night with no rush, following each for about 4-4.5 hours from just after pouring. The first bottle is disarmingly (and slightly unnervingly) ready, but one can hardly find fault with the very Latourish profile, full of black fruit, grilled chestnut, worn leather, and meaty, clove so typically derived from the Enclos. The other two bottles were are more as expected, offering muscular black fruit without the aromatic nuances found in the first bottle. Yet they allay any fears any unnaturally rapid evolution that might be founded if the first bottle were the sole example one had to taste. All three examples offer good presence on the palate, if perhaps not the endless finish and peacock's tail that great Latour usually provides. Maybe this is still coming out of its adolescence and it will be nice to have more data points in the coming years. A great wine, even if I am not positive it will end up in the pantheon of the great Latours.

May 24, 2023 - Decanted 2hrs+. Deep, powerful complex nose. Cassis, dark cherry, blackberry, some ripe raspberry. Graphite, cigar box and peppery spices with touch or leather on nose. Plum, blackcurrant, cassis on palate along with some rose petals or dried flowers. A touch of smokey incense and some pencil shaving on the long finish. Profound and complex.

Very happy to have tried this having had a corked botte a few months ago. I wouldn't drink this any younger but it has a great life ahead. I imagine this will be at 97-98+ points when at its peak!

February 24, 2023 - Classic Bordeaux, classic Pauillac with ages to go. Incredibly thick, complex and powerful. Still in early stage of development (contrary to the 1990 Latour beside). Clearly a great year. Notes of dark fruits, ink, leather and tar on the palate. Mix of black berries, cherries, chocolate and iron jumping from the glass. Nicely rounded tannin on the finish. Very well crafted. 98 points for now and the perfect score in another 10 years?
