April 14, 2020 - Cranberry, strawberries, perfumed and aromatic. Serve without decanting. The first sip was totally undrinkable, there's high acidity without structure. It was disappointing especially from a good winemaker. I left the wine to breathe in the glass, hoping that it will improve with aeration; indeed just after an hour, the acidity had mellow down and drinking fine.

March 1, 2019 - Overly dark; nose is a mess, it was constantly in flux, at times it partly cleaned up but ultimately is shoddy; on the palate far more enjoyable, dense, plenty of depth & power; finishes well. Has time in hand. ? on score.

October 7, 2018 - Dark fruited profile, spicy. Full bodied. Serious, upright wine. Chez Peytz.

October 13, 2017 - Not at all what I expect from Burgundy. This was mostly just alcohol. Less balanced than the 2014 Kistler served later (which wasn't totally in my wheelhouse either). Very intense and over the top and lacking in acidity. Unfortunate.

October 29, 2016 - What a great surprise!! None of the dominant green or stemmy qualities usually associated with the vintage. Richly mouthcoating deep red fruit with precise acidity and perfectly integrated tannins. Not sure what winemaking tricks Lafon used to overcome wet vintage, but hats off. Best 04 Volnay I've had.
