April 14, 2024 - Adding one more point to my prior scores to confirm I slightly prefer the Beze to the Chambertin. In a amazing place right now. Likely no further upside. Drink it all.

January 29, 2024 - Burgundy Dinner with a Bordeaux Producer (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Much better vs my previous time tasted (2015) but not quite as exciting as a bottle of Rousseau's Beze tasted last year. Plenty of black and red cherry with a charming spice profile, spice hints, and faint earth. Absolutely zero of 2004's bitter expression.

December 18, 2023 - Absolutely delicious tonight. It has been a few years since I had this wine. Cool and airy red and blue fruit with a round and creamy texture. After about three hours, the finish became more stemmy and grippy—adding dimension. The lack of ripeness in 2004 is certainly evident, but it allows this wine to drink more mature than it probably should which in this case is a positive. This and the Beze (which may be slightly more interesting) are truly spectacular right now.

    July 11, 2023 - Epic 04 Night-

Rousseau Chambertin- Very pretty upfront. Beautifully pitched nose of sweet berry, underbrush, earth, very well layered. A touch of green but not off putting. Palate is more structured then the Leroy but not as big as the RSV. Drinking great now. Hints of green on the palate but overall great balance. The bottle had character.

DRC RSV- Darkest and spiciest of the 4. No perceptible green on the nose or palate. The youngest tasting and most structured. Ever changing flavor profile of layered dark berries, spice, and floral. More regal than the Rousseau and delicious but not quite as open.

Leroy Vosne- Explosive ethereal Leroy nose of sweet berry, spice, and earth. I've had the fortune to follow this since release and the nose is always so distinctive. Such heady perfume. Lightest wine in appearance and palate. This had some astringency on the end that stood out. I've found some bottle variation on these.

Vogue Moose- Opened late in the tasting and probably suffered as a result. Greenest of the bottles. Good length, good flavor impact, but definitely overshadowed by the others.

    BDM CC- POXED

February 12, 2022 - Excessive greenness that I find disturbing. Clean, but doesn’t have the definition that I would prefer.

February 12, 2022 - Leroy Field Trip; 2/11/2022-2/14/2022: 1903. Splash decanted for half an hour and served blind. Actually more open than the bottle yesterday which was slow oxed. Stem still smells like Dujac, but more pure, with light blue fruit in the background. I think it is identifiably Rousseau, and half the table did guess Chambertin. Although they thought it is much younger, post-2010s, and that should be a good indicator on the youthfulness of this wine. 94

February 11, 2022 - Leroy Field Trip; 2/11/2022-2/14/2022: 1904. Opened at 2:30, served at 5. Somewhat musky at the opening but it really thrives with air. Served blind it can be mistaken as Dujac, smooth, robust, and lots of stem in this vintage. With time it becomes more ethereal. Not really green, just light and fresh. 94

December 14, 2021 - Not fully open up after bottle breathing for about 2-3 hours. Aroma is very similar to the 2004 AR close de beze, but the body is a little bit lighter and it has more acidity and tanning. More concentrated and more powerful.

April 28, 2021 - It requires a good few hours to open up which really surprise me. Wild berries, meat, candied fruit and spice. Very good structure and density. When it is revealed it is a 04 Rousseau Chambertin, I am very surprised. No greenness at all. Very good for the vintage.

July 16, 2020 - Tried during a lineup of all of ARs 2004s. Whilst no formal notes, this was the most 'green' of the bottles. I also noted it was a touch bigger than the Chambertin Clos de Beze. This did get better with air.
