March 30, 2015 - Very dark and almost opaque black-red color with purple highlights. Very dark-toned and quite spicy nose with aromas of sweet raspberries, some peppery character, a little bit of licorice and a hint of anise. The wine feels quite round, moderately full-bodied and relatively un-concentrated on the palate with flavors of raspberry candies, ripe dark berries, peppery spice, some black cherries and a hint of licorice. The structure relies more on the quite ample and moderately grippy tannins than on the relatively low acidity. The alcohol shows a little. The finish is quite warm, juicy and somewhat sweet with flavors of ripe black cherries, plummy fruits, some raspberry marmalade and a hint of coarse tannic character.

A simple and straightforward little red wine that feels somehow diluted despite its relatively big body - most likely this wine is made from low-quality grapes grown more for quantity rather than quality. However, the wine performs still surprisingly well - especially in its price point - and overall this is a surprisingly decent effort. A bit more acidity and lower alcohol couldn't hurt, though. Well worth its price at only 6,99€.
