  March 29, 2010 - 2006 Winkler-Hermaden Zweigelt Olivin Schloss Kapfenstein (Oostenrijk, Styria, Südsteiermark) Kleur: Diep donkerrood Aroma / bouquet: Veel primaire tonen, donker fruit, wat ééndimensionaal, hout / vanille Smaak / Afdronk: Frisse en fruitige aanzet, soepel, milde tannines maar toch wat 'stoffig' in de mond, drop en laurier. Algemeen / potentieel: 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 8 + Smaak / Afdronk: 11 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 81/100

  October 14, 2009 - Totally disagree with isbjoern above. Akward nose? Yes, it is special, with minerals almost like Vesuvian reds and with lots of smoke. It's the terroir, that has made this wine the cult wine it is. Green and vegetal? Of course. It is still a baby. 2006 was a great vintage for this wine. It still needs another 2-4 years and will develop fine another 6-8. No balance? On the contrary I would say good structure. This is a very young wine, showing bird cherry, smoke, tar and well integrated oak on the nose. On the palate creamy blackcurrant and tobacco with solid tannins a long bitterish fruity finish (bird cherry again). Best Olivin in years.

  June 26, 2009 - Akward nose. Green and vegetal on the palate. Very dry with lots of tannins. No balance here. Didn't like it at the vintage tasting in January and like it even less now. - 83 points
