July 13, 2022 - right in the middle of its drinking window, rich, full-bodied with a hint of port even...finish went on for ages. Lovely stuff!!

  • TGRLU Likes this wine: 92 points

August 7, 2020 - just wait and taste next bottle bottle in 5 years.

Die Reife beginnt. Erst nach einer Stunde rund und geschmeidig. Dieser Wein braucht noch Zeit.

August 24, 2019 - Soft, aggreable, very typical of the genre, smokey, rich, soft; old time Rioja rocknroll. Ready to drink

August 22, 2017 - Their El Bosque is serious Rioja, even if it veers too much into New World land. This Gran Riserva had plenty of mint, sweet damson cherry, lingonberry and a little of the smokey clay Tempranillo character. But overall, it was a mightily under showing Gran Riserva, over showing its fruit and mint and under showing the earthy elements of a great modern Rioja that has not sacrificed its soul to Parker - type ratings. A young wine not worth buying.

    March 28, 2017 - 97% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano, 24 months in oak.
Nose feels closed, muted - this seemed to be a theme with most of the Sierra Cantabria wines. Palate is red fruits, cherry, oak, vanilla, some prune, raisin, coffee.
