September 6, 2017 - Very deep garnet. Charming and complex aroma of floral, mixed blackberries and ripe plum, earthy, dusty, smoky, leather, savoury, wood spices, getting ready. On palate very typical Bordeaux notes of forest floor, mineral, pencil lead, coffee bean. Very layered and deep. So long. A powerful vintage for Harlan.

April 5, 2017 - Lead pencil, chocolate, sweet red fruit, light toasted vanilla oak. Soft tannins and great structure. Ripe blackberry and soy. Elegant layers unfold on your tongue. Good mature fruit. Not heavy or dense, but great depth and complexity. Bright fruit, but a soft mouthfeel. Excellent wine! Opened 1 hour before drinking and did not decant.

    December 11, 2016 - Maderised and undrinkable ... What a shame

November 19, 2016 - No formal notes taken. Was enjoyable, but I've had far better vintages from Harlan. Somewhat one-dimensional.

  • The Vines That Bind wrote: flawed

November 10, 2015 - An honest flaw in the bottle. Not totally corked but strangely stewed and cloudy. Probably a bad fill with too much oxygen. Real shame as the '99 was just starting to make it interesting.

(Harlan Estate) Tarry, plummy coffee nose; tasty tar, plum, coffee, mocha palate, with beautiful, pure fruit; long finish
