March 17, 2024 - Lightly perfumed, berries and violet. A little spice and nicely tannic.
Fruit mostly gone or certainly deep in the background.
A hint of hide. -

June 29, 2022 - Tasted prior to release and purchase. Like many southern rhone wines, great when on the fruit or with age like this and often less successful in between. Fully resolved tannins and a very good nose with macerated strawberries, pot pourri and particularly star anise and all spice. Less exciting on the palate. Absolute bargain.
Perfect for serving to a “sophisticated” group of 18 year olds! -

September 3, 2021 - Last bottle.
Seemed a little lacking compared to previous ones....more dilute, less fruit, and it tired more quickly. The attack of the Syrah wasn't there any more really. Good on first night, but faded faster. I think it's for drinking pretty soon now and glad I've finished it up, with the '16 now coming along. -

February 28, 2021 - Finished off the bottle started below.....over two nights.
Limpidly clear dark red fruit colour. Mix of dark fruit, spice and something else I couldn't place on the nose. Big legs in the glass.
Palate was very smooth, amazingly so, red and black fruits, slightly earthy undertone later. Tannins only kicked in at the end. Medium finish. This is right in its drinking spot now, and went very well with venison night one and grilled lamb night 2. What I expect Vacqueyras to be. -

January 28, 2021 - TWS webinar with Jean Michel Vache of Clos des Cazaux. One small glass by Coravin.
Softer, slightly lighter colour than the '14 and especially '16. Deep crimson rather than purple.
More lifted and complex on the nose, herbal and even fragrant. No feral notes. Syrah not obvious in the way of the '16. Big 'legs' in the glass...
Palate, more savoury, less fruit and less depth than the '14. A little hollow in the middle? Slightly bitter finish, but nice savoury tannins. The nose was better than the palate here. Slightly disappointing compared to the '14, which is a reversal of previous. Maybe it will come back again? Not a bad wine at all, just a bit different to last time.
