January 2, 2024 - Yes, this is very likely past its prime but still is very enjoyable. Fruit has faded a little but there is still enough structure to keep the wine coherent. Beautiful acidity, even some tannic grip. I'll open my second (and last) bottle soon. Quite impressive for a 30+ year-old Brunello annata.

May 7, 2016 - Drank this a few days after the 1993 Poggio Antico Riserva and this is clearly a much better wine. PnP. I love the cool menthol notes and those expressive herbs which are here much smoother and rounder than in your average 90s Brunello. Excellent wine - unfortunately my last bottle.

January 30, 2016 - Bottom neck fill. Cork more than half way soaked and broke upon extraction but managed to get everything out. Slow ox'ed for two hours and then poured into decanter. This is a fine Brunello with menthol and plenty of herbs, flowers, subtle dark and red fruit, earth and some leather. Paper like tannins are still there but do not distract. Everything is in a fine and subtle balance. Medium plus finish. After about 2h in the decanter the wine started to fade a bit, losing its aromatic expressiveness and being more and more dominated by earth and leather. Impressive for a 25 year old regular Brunello release (from a stellar vintage though). Drink up. 92-93

June 29, 2013 - What a shocker -- still very much alive, robust, and utterly delicious. I had assumed it would be over the hill -- in fact, way over the hill -- but man oh man was I wrong. Just an absolute stunner to drink now. And I didn't think the house style made ageable wine...

November 4, 2012 - Unbelievable wine. 22 year old an completely fresh. The balance is perfect, and the colour of the wine was still rubin red. One of the best Brunelli I have tasted for a long time. The white label of Casanova di Neri is really a wine with a long live. Tasted this year 1979 and 1982, and they were also incredible fresh.
