September 13, 2018 - Consistent with some of my previous notes but a very slight hint of vinegar which brought the score down a little since my last tasting but still very good.

April 18, 2018 - Very dark colour, almost black with a small purple hue. Aroma of sawdust, cloves and light varnish. Incredibly smooth, medium body. Blackberry jam, plum, maybe some cherry. Definite pepper and spice, quite savoury. Medium finish. A bit of a sour note at the end, but in a good way. The sour fruit flavour adding to the experience. Long legs, 13.5% alc.
I rarely have a good experience with a chambourcin and I haven’t been looking forward to this wine but I thought it was time to take the plunge. I don’t know I thought this as the previous two times I had this wine over the last few years I have always been pleasantly surprised. The definition of insanity I guess.
I am once again pleasantly surprised by this wine. Previous vintages of this wine by Ivanhoe have been average to my taste, prefer the heavier wines, but this I can’t fault this one. Doesn’t have the flavour of their Shiraz but it has been made brilliantly. Extremely enjoyable. It doesn’t even appear to be aging.1 person found this helpful Comments (3) -

October 11, 2017 - This wine is amazing.
It's ruby colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, dust, cedar and black pepper. It tastes like red currant, blackberry, raisin and clove. The body is medium. The wine has satin-like texture & finishes long. It has low acidity. Amazing drop! -

September 16, 2017 - The best Chambourcin i have ever had. 2014 was a fantastic year for the Hunter Valley & this wine is amazing.

February 15, 2017 - Quite dark colour. Tobacco, dry wood, slightly hot. Mixture of red and dark fruits. Medium body plus, which I find unusual for a chambourcin. I am not a fan of Chambourcin, but this is probably one of the better ones I have tasted. Not that I would go out of my way to buy it.
Improved on the second night. The colour is vibrant dark purple. Smoother finish and fuller body. Not bad at all for a Zchambourcin, actually looking forward to the next bottle. Just give it a bit of time to breath.1 person found this helpful Comments (4)
