April 10, 2020 - Tonight's adventure is 2001 Estancia Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles I purchased March 1st 2004 at 14.99. It was a good bang for the buck at the time, Units of Pleasure virus Dollars. I experimented with aging a bottle. A good experiment it was. The wine has lost nothing over the years. Good body deep dark red color. Still prominent fruit forward. Tannins may have lightened and that for the positive. Nice strong black cherry and currant fruit notes in the taste. The nose is medium in intensity filled with notes of dark fruits. I am very pleased with this 19 year old wine. Glad I saved a bottle to bring back memories of our wine class days at the college. I often saved moderate priced outstanding wines that gave good high units of pleasure for the dollar in their day. I enjoy reliving them, Some have lost pleasure to time, some have not. This is one that has held Strong.

December 25, 2015 - Wow. Still a great wine. Lots of ripe currants and black cherry

September 24, 2010 - We had a bottle of this early in 2010 and I don't remember it being this good. This was perfect with the lamb shank and bison steaks we ate it with.

January 1, 2010 - Fairly mellow but possibly due to drinking past 'drinking window'. Color and clarity was nice and it paired well with the rich dinner of steak with mushroom shallot sauce. Not much complexity in taste or aroma. It would be easy for most to drink with food. Minimal tannin with flavors of currant and blackberry and cherry notes. Smooth on the palate with medium finish.

July 23, 2009 - Medium red color. Aroma not exciting but not unpleasant. Little complexity, however, there is adequate structure to this wine. Minimal tannin, dark currant, blackberry and cherry notes. Smooth on the palate with medium finish. A good Cab for the price. Will look to purchase current vintage.
