  April 22, 2015 - An interesting cuvée of 70 % Zweigelt, 20 % Merlot and 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon, from the hillsides around the city of Schrattenthal, Austria’s smallest wine-growing town, situated in the northern part of the Weinviertel region, not far from the border to the Czech Republic and Slovakia (80 km northwest of Vienna). Maturation: the wine spent 15 months in barriques. Beautiful garnet-ruby in color with a black core and an attractive nose of black currant, sweet herbs, orange zest and nuances of tobacco and black chocolate. The palate shows an elegant and well-structured wine, dominated by juicy plum and berry fruit, with a nice complexity and rounded tannins. Long harmonious aftertaste. A pleasure to drink now but can also be cellared for another 2-3 years.
  
  Een interessante cuvée van 70 % Zweigelt, 20 % Merlot en10 % Cabernet Sauvignon, geteeld op de heuvels rondom de stad Schrattenthal, het kleinste wijnbouwstadje van Oostenrijk, gelegen in het noordelijke deel van het Weinviertel, niet ver van de grens met de Tsjechië en Slowakije (80 km ten noordwesten van Wenen). Rijping: de wijn verbleef 15 maanden in barriques. Mooi granaatrood van kleur met een zwarte kern, en een aantrekkelijke neus met aroma’s van zwarte bessen, zachte kruiden, sinaasappelschil, alsook wat nuances van tabak en zwarte chocolade. In de mond: een elegante en degelijk gestructureerde wijn, gedomineerd door sappig pruimen- en bessenfruit, met een mooie complexiteit en fraai geïntegreerde tannines. Lange, harmonieuze afdronk. Nu al een genot om te drinken, maar de wijn gaat zeker nog 2-3 jaar mee.
