    November 14, 2022 - Label code suggests likely disgorgement date in July of 2021. A bottle of Bollinger is my annual birthday tradition! Decided to open the special cuvée tonight and save the 2012 and 2014 for later on down the line.

    On the nose, we got a lot of toast, whipped cream, apple, pear, and custard. Mouth watering acidity ushers in apple, lemon pith, and biscuit on the palate. Rich and subtly sweet, with a long, mineral-laced finish.

    November 10, 2022 - Code on the cork indicates a January 2022 disgorgement. A few streams of everlasting fine bubbles in the glass. Nose of toast, almonds, green apples, a bit of buttered brioche, and a tiny hint of vanilla.

    The acidity draws the moisture away and provides the structure for this wine to shine right at the start of the sip. Palate of toasted bread and nuts supported by green apples, lemon oil and zest, spices, and a bit of creamy salted caramel. The chalky mineral finish starts with green apple skin and notes of pear. Then saline, caramel, and toast combine a pleasant mild dash of spices and black pepper that build up and persist.

    This young bottle did not have the hollow mid-palate that I noticed in the past. This feels like time in the cellar will do it well and I will stock up on more. Although I am finding at $55/btl is on the edge I am willing to pay.

    October 26, 2022 - Bottling code L311311 - box has an annotation of November 2003. Bottle likely disgorged 2001 or earlier. Imported into Australia by Tucker Seabrook & Co.

    Medium to deep gold with a slight mousse (maybe my grubby glasses). Good tertiary development, nose of mushroom, brioche and bruised apple; similar flavours on the palate, earthy and full - Pinot Noir dominant, balanced with well-judged dosage, fine acid draw through the palate, good length. Just superb.
